On the night of Friday, August 11, sitting adjacent from Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, the proclaimed queer femme fatal Gabriela Ruiz hosted ‘Party N Play,’ a benefit party, though it was unclear on who was being benefited. The event, which was advertised on Instagram through Ruiz’s misnomer Leather.Papi, brought flocks of Los Angeles nighttime regulars. The party was well worth the $10 admission fee. The papi experience was set-up to transcend with visuals of anime, kink and virtual 3-D imagery from @Lucid.Interval, giving attendees every penny’s worth of euphoria. Sounds from @foreigner_co, @miacarucci, and @riotboooy, all set the tone for the Noz-induced dreamscape. The scene set forth the DJ debut of @sillylolita and @silkylolita. Genres ranged from gabber, foot work and club music, which closed the night around 2 a.m. (assuming people could stop dancing long enough to squeeze in their last kiss). A quick last glance around the gallery-esque space defeated any doubt that leather papi’s parties could be anything but a nocturnal youth essential.
